In the sphere of modern watchmaking, the Italian brand Unimatic has carved out a distinct niche for itself since its inception in 2015. The brand's latest release, the PRODIVER collection, represents a significant step forward, evolving its established Modello Uno platform into a series of instruments dedicated to serious professional use. This new collection is not about ornamentation; it is an exercise in functional minimalism, delivering three distinct models engineered to meet and exceed the rigorous demands of underwater environments. The lineup consists of a flagship titanium model with extreme depth-rating capabilities and two robust stainless steel variants, each designed with an uncompromising focus on performance, legibility, and durability.

Founded by industrial designers Giovanni Moro and Simone Nunziato, both graduates of the prestigious Politecnico di Milano, UNIMATIC operates from a clear and consistent philosophy. The brand seeks to distill the great design traditions of horology into modern, streamlined forms. Their approach is not one of mere replication but of thoughtful reinterpretation, creating unique timepieces that prioritize functionality and quality construction at an accessible price point. This foundational ethos is palpable in the PRODIVER collection, which strips the dive watch concept down to its most essential components, enhancing each one for maximum professional utility. It’s a testament to a design process that values purpose over pageantry.

The PRODIVER collection is built on a unified professional standard, even as it offers three distinct references. Each watch is individually pressure-tested to guarantee its water resistance rating, a crucial step for any true diving instrument. Central to their design is a newly implemented matte ceramic bezel insert, which is infused with luminescent material for superior low-light visibility. This feature, combined with a dual-color application of Super-LumiNova across the dial and hands, ensures that critical information remains exceptionally clear whether the wearer is on a sunlit boat deck or deep beneath the ocean's surface.

At the apex of this new collection sits the Modello Uno ref. U1S-T-PD6-B, a timepiece that represents the pinnacle of UNIMATIC's technical achievement to date. This model is housed in an ultra-lightweight Grade 2 titanium case, marking a first for the brand in achieving its most impressive depth rating. The case material was chosen for its high strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance, properties that are highly valued in a marine context. The entire case is sandblasted, resulting in a muted, non-reflective grey finish that reinforces its identity as a purpose-built tool.

The case construction of the U1S-T-PD6-B is formidable. It features an 8mm diameter screw-down crown and a solid, screwed-in professional diver caseback, which work in concert with a high-quality gasket system. These elements secure the watch against the intense pressures of the deep, allowing for an individually tested water resistance of 60 atmospheres, which translates to an impressive 600 meters or approximately 2000 feet. Despite this extreme durability, the watch maintains the slim profile of the Modello Uno case, measuring 40mm in diameter, or 41.5mm including the bezel, ensuring it remains comfortable and wearable.

Powering the flagship PRODIVER is the Swiss-made automatic caliber Sellita SW200-1 a. The inclusion of this well-regarded movement is a significant technical enhancement for UNIMATIC. The caliber operates at a high frequency of 28,800 beats per hour (4Hz), which contributes to a smoother sweep of the seconds hand and greater timing accuracy, rated here at ±12 seconds per day. The movement also provides a hacking seconds function, allowing for precise time-setting, and boasts a power reserve of more than 41 hours. Its reliability and serviceability make it a fitting engine for a watch designed for dependability in challenging situations.

Legibility is paramount in the U1S-T-PD6-B, and its dial and hands are designed for instant clarity. The matte black dial serves as a high-contrast background for the large, geometric hour markers. Time is indicated by a set of matte black ladder phantom hands, with a reverse lollipop seconds hand providing a clear visual beat. To enhance visibility, UNIMATIC has employed a dual-lume strategy. The hands feature a custom Super-LumiNova application with a white appearance in daylight that emits an orange glow (OL orange) in the dark on the hour and seconds hands, providing critical distinction.

Further enhancing the watch's functionality is its 120-click mono-directional safety bezel. The bezel is fitted with a matte black ceramic insert that is both highly scratch-resistant and immune to fading from UV exposure. Crucially, the diving scale markers on the insert are infused with Super-LumiNova BGW09, which glows a distinct blue-green, contrasting with the orange lume on the hands. Protecting the dial is a 3mm thick double-domed sapphire crystal, a material prized for its extreme hardness. An anti-reflective coating applied to the inner surface of the crystal minimizes glare and maximizes readability from any angle.

Accompanying the flagship titanium model are two references crafted from 316L stainless steel: the Modello Uno ref. U1-PD3-B and the ref. U1-PD3-OR. These watches offer the core PRODIVER experience with a water resistance rating of 300 meters (1000 feet) and are powered by the robust and reliable Seiko NH35A automatic movement. This Japanese caliber is a workhorse in the industry, known for its durability, 21,600 bph frequency, and 41-hour power reserve. Like the Sellita, it also features a hacking seconds hand for precise synchronization.

The Modello Uno ref. U1-PD3-B is the quintessential execution of the modern tool watch. It features a solid 316L stainless steel case with a fine brushed finish that subtly plays with light without creating distracting reflections. Its dial is a stark, matte black, creating a classic, high-contrast look when paired with the white markers and hands. This monochromatic scheme is purposeful and direct, focusing entirely on the clear transmission of time. Visually, it is the most understated of the trio, a pure instrument for those who prefer function in its most direct form.

Its counterpart, the Modello Uno ref. U1-PD3-OR, offers the same robust construction but introduces a bold dial in "international orange." This specific color was not chosen for aesthetics alone; it is renowned for its high visibility in underwater environments, where water absorbs colors from the red end of the spectrum first. The vibrant orange dial ensures that the watch face remains conspicuous even as depth and murkiness increase, making it an exceptionally practical choice for divers. The stark contrast between the orange dial and the matte black ladder hands further amplifies its at-a-glance legibility.

Both stainless steel models share the same meticulous attention to durability as the titanium flagship. The 316L steel cases are complemented by a screwed-in 2mm thick caseback and the same 8mm screw-down crown. They are protected by a slightly thinner, yet still substantial, 2.5mm thick double-domed sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating. The bezel mechanism is identical, offering a crisp 120-click unidirectional rotation with a lume-infused matte black ceramic insert featuring BGW09 Super-LumiNova markers.

Across all three models in the PRODIVER collection, the use of dual-color lume is a defining characteristic. This is not merely a design quirk but a functional enhancement designed for intuitive orientation in low-light conditions. By using different colors for different indicators—a custom orange emission on the hour and seconds hands and BGW09 blue-green on the bezel markers and minute hand—a diver can instantly distinguish between the primary time-telling components and the elapsed time indicator on the bezel. This layered approach to illumination is a critical safety feature, ensuring that vital information can be processed quickly and without confusion.

The matte ceramic bezel insert is another cornerstone of the collection's professional credentials. Ceramic is significantly harder than traditional aluminum inserts, rendering it virtually impervious to the scratches and dings that can occur during a dive. The matte finish eliminates the risk of glare obscuring the crucial minute markers of the dive scale. The tactile feedback of the 120-click bezel is precise and secure, engineered to be easily manipulated even when wearing thick diving gloves. It is a component that perfectly reflects UNIMATIC's commitment to utility, clarity, and long-term resilience.

Visually, the watches present a powerful and cohesive design language. The Modello Uno case is defined by its substantial lugs and clean, uninterrupted lines. There are no superfluous chamfers or decorative polishes; every surface is either brushed or sandblasted, reinforcing its instrumental nature. The dial is a study in minimalism, featuring oversized circular and rectangular hour markers and forgoing a date window to maintain perfect symmetry and uncluttered readability. The phantom ladder hands are a UNIMATIC signature, appearing bold and solid for easy reading.

Each watch in the PRODIVER collection is delivered as a complete kit designed for immediate action. The timepieces are fitted with a black heavy-duty nylon NATO strap, which is both comfortable and secure, ensuring the watch remains fixed to the wrist in even the most turbulent conditions. The hardware on the strap is specifically matched to the case material: the titanium U1S-T-PD6-B comes with sandblasted titanium hardware, while the steel U1-PD3 models feature hardware with a durable black DLC brushed finish. The package is completed with a signature UNIMATIC tough case, which also contains the warranty card and a unique identification seal.

The PRODIVER collection marks a clear maturation for the UNIMATIC brand. While maintaining the core design DNA that has earned it a dedicated following, this series demonstrates a heightened focus on technical specifications and material innovation. The introduction of a 600-meter titanium model powered by a Swiss movement places UNIMATIC in a new competitive bracket, appealing directly to seasoned enthusiasts and professionals who demand a higher level of performance from their equipment.

These watches are produced in highly limited quantities, reinforcing their unique position in the market. Each of the three models—the titanium U1S-T-PD6-B, the orange-dialed U1-PD3-OR, and the black-dialed U1-PD3-B—is part of a unique edition of only 300 individually numbered pieces. This scarcity ensures a degree of exclusivity for the owner.

The pricing reflects the specifications of each model. The flagship Modello Uno ref. U1S-T-PD6-B in titanium with the Sellita movement is priced at €1,500. The two stainless steel models, the Modello Uno ref. U1-PD3-OR and ref. U1-PD3-B, are both priced at €750. Given their robust construction, professional-grade specifications, and limited availability, the PRODIVER collection offers a compelling proposition for those seeking a modern, capable dive watch with a distinct and purposeful design.
