The British watchmaker
Bremont has consistently carved its niche by creating exceptionally durable and capable tool watches. Following the April 2025 release of its updated Supermarine 500m dive watch, the brand has now introduced a new variant that brings a starkly different aesthetic to the robust platform: the Supermarine 500M Polar White. This model continues the collection's trajectory of blending high-performance engineering with refined design, offering a fresh take on one of the brand's cornerstone sea-faring instruments. It represents not just a new colorway, but a deliberate expansion of the Supermarine’s character, aimed at those who appreciate both technical substance and distinct visual presence.
Founded in 2002 by brothers Nick and Giles English, Bremont was born from a shared passion for aviation, mechanics, and adventure. This foundation is deeply embedded in the company's DNA, shaping its core philosophy of creating watches that are "Tested Beyond Endurance." The brand's mantra, ‘Take It Further,’ encapsulates this spirit, reflecting a commitment to building timepieces for explorers, military personnel, and adventurers who push boundaries. Bremont’s products are designed with purpose, engineered with precision, and practical in their execution, embodying the essential qualities of a true tool watch.

This dedication to quality and British engineering is physically manifested in "The Wing," Bremont's state-of-the-art 35,000-square-foot manufacturing facility located in the scenic Chiltern valley. Opened in 2021, this facility is the heart of Bremont's operations, where meticulous craftsmanship and advanced technology converge to bring their timepieces to life. By centralizing its manufacturing, Bremont has reinforced its commitment to reinvigorating the watchmaking industry in Great Britain, ensuring every timepiece that leaves its doors meets an exacting standard of quality and durability.
The Supermarine 500M Polar White makes an immediate visual statement. The dial is a brilliant, crisp white, providing a high-contrast canvas that is both clean and commanding. This is not a flat white, but a dynamic surface featuring a three-dimensional wave pattern. This subtle yet intricate texture, inspired by the ocean's surface, catches the light in a way that gives the dial a constant sense of depth and motion. It is a design choice that links the watch directly to its aquatic purpose without overwhelming the functional aspects of the display.
Against this arctic backdrop, the details stand out with exceptional clarity. The applied hour markers are generously sized and filled with a brilliant white Super-LumiNova®, which emits a powerful blue glow in low-light conditions. These markers are paired with polished black gold sword-style hands, also filled with the same high-performance luminous material, ensuring that legibility is never compromised, whether in the bright sun or the dark depths of the sea. A white dial ring with a printed minutes track frames the main dial, adding another layer of precision for time-telling. The date window is neatly positioned at the 3 o'clock position, maintaining the dial's overall symmetry and functional clarity.

The formidable case of the Supermarine 500m is a testament to Bremont’s focus on robust engineering. It is crafted from 904L stainless steel, a material choice that speaks volumes about the watch's intended purpose. 904L steel possesses a higher concentration of chromium and molybdenum compared to the more common 316L steel, granting it superior resistance to corrosion, particularly from saltwater and other harsh chemicals. This makes it an ideal material for a high-performance dive watch destined for marine environments.
Measuring 43mm in diameter with a case length of 50mm from lug to lug, the watch has a confident presence on the wrist. However, Bremont has carefully engineered the profile to be slimmer and more ergonomic, with a depth of just under 13mm. This thoughtful design ensures that despite its substantial specifications, the watch wears comfortably and sits well on the wrist. The case architecture also includes substantial, integrated guards that protect both the screw-down crown and the bezel, shielding these critical components from accidental impacts.
A key feature for any serious dive watch is its rotating bezel, and the Supermarine 500m excels in this area. The bezel is uni-directional, rotating counter-clockwise only, which is a crucial safety measure for divers. This prevents any accidental adjustments that could lead a diver to miscalculate their remaining air supply. The bezel itself is made from 904L steel, but it features a highly durable, textured black ceramic insert. Ceramic is valued for its exceptional scratch resistance and its immunity to fading from UV light exposure, ensuring the bezel's markings remain crisp and legible for years. The edge of the bezel is finished with a knurled texture, providing excellent grip for easy operation, even when wearing gloves or with wet hands.
Protecting the intricate dial is a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The use of sapphire is standard for high-quality watches due to its hardness, which is second only to diamond. The domed shape adds a touch of vintage character but also serves a practical function by slightly magnifying the dial for enhanced readability. Furthermore, the crystal is treated with an anti-reflective coating, which is essential for minimizing glare. This coating is particularly important for a dive watch, as it improves clarity when reading the time underwater or in bright, direct sunlight.

At the core of the Supermarine 500M Polar White beats the automatic BB64AH movement. This reliable workhorse is built for precision and endurance, operating at a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour (4Hz). This higher beat rate contributes to a smoother sweep of the seconds hand and enhances the movement's overall accuracy. With 25 jewels reducing friction on critical components, the movement is engineered for longevity and consistent performance.
The BB64AH movement is equipped with several high-grade components that underscore its quality. It features a Glucydur balance wheel, an alloy known for its stability across temperature variations, which helps maintain consistent timekeeping. This is complemented by an Anachron balance spring and a Nivaflex mainspring, both of which are modern, anti-magnetic, and highly durable materials that further contribute to the movement's reliability and precision over time. The result is a robust and dependable engine for the watch, providing a very practical 56-hour power reserve. This extended power reserve means the watch can be taken off for a full two days and will still be running when picked back up.
True to its name, the Supermarine 500m boasts a water resistance rating of 500 meters, or 50 ATM. This impressive depth rating places it firmly in the category of professional-grade dive watches, capable of withstanding the immense pressures found far beneath the ocean's surface. To achieve this, the watch features a screw-down crown and a solid, screw-in case back, which create a hermetically sealed environment for the movement.
Further enhancing its professional credentials is the inclusion of an automatic helium escape valve. This specialized feature is located on the side of the case and is essential for saturation divers. During deep, prolonged dives, divers live in pressurized chambers filled with a breathing gas mixture that includes helium. Tiny helium atoms can penetrate a watch's seals and build up pressure inside the case. During decompression, this trapped helium can expand and potentially damage the watch or pop the crystal out. The helium escape valve automatically releases this trapped gas, ensuring the watch remains intact during the ascent.

Flipping the watch over reveals a solid stainless steel case back, a feature that prioritizes durability and water resistance over an exhibition window. While the movement is hidden, the case back is far from plain. It is beautifully decorated with an engraving of the world's oceans, centered on a globe projection. This detailed embellishment is a nod to the watch's purpose and Bremont's spirit of global adventure. It adds a touch of refined craftsmanship to a timepiece that is otherwise defined by its rugged functionality.
The Supermarine 500m is fitted with Bremont's newly engineered quick-release bracelet, also crafted from 904L stainless steel. This bracelet, which first appeared on the Supermarine 300m in 2024, is a significant upgrade in both form and function. It features distinctive infinity-shaped links that alternate between satin-brushed and polished finishes, creating a dynamic look that complements the case. The design is not just for aesthetics; it provides exceptional fluidity and comfort on the wrist.
Crucially, the bracelet incorporates a micro-adjustment system within the clasp. This allows the wearer to make small, precise adjustments to the fit without needing any tools, ensuring perfect comfort as the wrist expands or contracts with changes in temperature. The quick-release system allows for easy swapping of the bracelet for other strap options. Bremont offers a military-inspired chevron rubber strap for a more tool-focused look or a woven NATO strap for a casual, versatile style, allowing the owner to easily adapt the watch to any occasion.
This new white dial edition builds directly on the momentum established by its predecessors. It follows the successful launch of the black dial Supermarine 500m earlier in 2025 and continues the evolution seen in the Supermarine Full Ceramic editions from 2024. By using 904L steel, a ceramic bezel, and next-generation Super-LumiNova®, it shares the same high-performance DNA as the rest of the modern Supermarine family. The Polar White dial, however, introduces a fresh and striking aesthetic, offering a lighter, more summery alternative to the typically darker palettes of professional dive watches.
