DescriptionThe Sinn 717, reference 717.010, is a horological instrument directly inspired by the Nabo 17 ZM cockpit clock, famously utilized in military aircraft such as the Tornado and F-104 Starfighter. From a mechanical perspective, the watch is powered by the SINN SZ01 self-winding chronograph movement. This movement features a 28-jewel construction and operates at a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour, ensuring precise timekeeping. It incorporates a seconds stop function for accurate time setting and provides antimagnetic properties in compliance with DIN 8309 standards, offering resistance to magnetic field interference. The SZ01 movement notably includes a 60-minute stop function, which is displayed centrally on the dial, echoing the design of its cockpit clock predecessor. The watch features a screw-fastened case back and screwable crown.

The case, constructed from bead-blasted stainless steel, measures 45 mm in diameter, with a band lug width of 24 mm and a case thickness of 15.3 mm. The total weight without the strap attached is 114 grams. Protecting the matte black dial is a sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on both sides to minimize glare and maximize legibility under diverse lighting conditions. The dial itself is designed for optimal clarity. The indices and numerals are coated with luminescent material. The, hour, minute, stopwatch second, and stopwatch minute hands are also treated with luminous paint. The watch's functionality extends beyond basic timekeeping. It includes a date display and an interior pilot’s bezel, complete with a luminous key mark, facilitating time-based calculations. The case is further enhanced by Sinn's Black Hard Coating, applied over a TEGIMENT Technology base, adding significant scratch resistance. The watch is water and pressure-resistant to 20 bar, based on DIN 8310. Moreover, Ar-Dehumidifying Technology is integrated to minimize internal fogging.
