Quick TakeThe Sinn U1 SDR is not just a watch; it is an underwater operator. Made from the same steel that protects German submarines, this beast laughs in the face of saltwater and crushing depths. It isn't about flashy aesthetics. This timepiece has a purposeful tool watch aesthetic, and the U1 SDR is about unwavering functionality and tank-like toughness. The bold, luminescent hands slice through the inky black dial, and the captive bezel, hardened with TEGIMENT technology, ensures accurate timing, even if you take a knock or two. The screw-down crown located at the 4 o'clock confirms a diver-first design. It's built like a battleship. The 1000m depth rating isn't just a number, it's a testament, with independent certification, to what this watch is actually designed to endure. The U1 SDR screams reliability; its heartbeat being that trusty SW200-1.
Description
The Sinn U1 SDR, reference 1010.040, is a purpose-built diving instrument constructed with an emphasis on durability and functionality. A defining characteristic of its construction is the utilization of German Submarine Steel, sourced directly from ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. This material, employed in the construction of the German Navy's Class 212 submarines, exhibits exceptional seawater resistance and is entirely non-magnetic, mitigating any potential interference with the watch's movement. The 44mm diameter case, finished with a bead-blasted texture, houses a screw-fastened case back and a screwable crown strategically positioned at 4 o'clock to avoid any discomfort on the wrist. The case meets all technical prerequisites for water resistance, adhering to the DIN 8310 standard. Independent certification validates its water and pressure resistance up to a diving depth of 1,000 meters (equivalent to 100 bar), with a test pressure of 125 bar. Moreover, the watch is resistant to low-pressure environments.
Powering the U1 SDR is the SW 200-1 self-winding mechanical movement. This caliber features 26 bearing jewels and operates at a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour. A seconds stop function is incorporated for precise time setting. The movement is anti-magnetic, conforming to the DIN 8309 standard. A matte black dial showcases indices and hands treated with luminescent material for superior visibility in low-light situations. The watch displays hours, minutes, seconds, and the date. A captive diver's bezel, featuring minute ratcheting and a luminous key mark, is implemented to prevent accidental detachment. The bezel has a Black Hard Coating, applied on a TEGIMENT Technology base, making the bezel exceptionally scratch resistant. The front crystal is sapphire, treated with an anti-reflective coating on both sides for optimal clarity. The band lug width measures 22mm, accommodating the included bead-blasted solid stainless steel bracelet. The overall case thickness is 14.7mm, and the watch weighs 113 grams without the strap. The watch's design and construction comply with European diving equipment standards EN 250 and EN14143. GenderMen
