• Linde Werdelin

  • Linde Werdelin, a watch brand that seamlessly blends Danish design with Swiss watchmaking precision, was born from a dramatic real-life experience. In 1996, co-founder Jorn Werdelin had a skiing accident where he got lost in bad weather, skied off a cliff, and broke his back. This incident sparked the idea for a high-end sports watch that could be combined with a digital instrument to provide crucial information for skiing and diving. In 2002, Werdelin partnered with designer Morten Linde to bring this vision to life, and the brand Linde Werdelin was established. After five years of development, the first collection was launched in 2006. A pivotal moment for the brand came in 2007 when their watch and instrument were used on the first confirmed free climb to the summit of Mount Everest.

The brand's philosophy is rooted in functionality and modernism, with a distinctive design DNA evident in their angular and often skeletonized cases. This design approach is not merely aesthetic; it's a deliberate effort to reduce weight while maintaining strength, a concept inspired by the engineering of Formula One cars. Linde Werdelin is known for its use of advanced and lightweight materials, including titanium, carbon fiber, and proprietary materials like 3DTP (3-Dimensional Thin Ply) carbon and ALW (Alloy Linde Werdelin). Their timepieces are crafted in Switzerland, working with independent artisans and watchmakers to create precision mechanisms, including custom-made movements and in-house complications like their photorealistic moonphase.
